Across the pavement cable- I was chatting with a friend in Newham, on the edge of Wanstead Flats. He has no problem, he's just repurposed a cast iron rainwater gully that's been there since the terraced houses were built. it's set flush into the pavement with a half inch gap, then a bigger space inside. Cable fits perfectly

Just an update for anyone interested...
Cornwall Council has "Approved" installation of Kerbo Charge channels for charging Electric Vehicles.
