I have to take issue with the suggestion EVs are 36% more expensive than ICE cars. There may be a few extreme examples, but there are also plenty of cases where there is little or no difference.
For example a Porsche Taycan is cheaper than a Panamera. My Ioniq 5 was the same price as the Discovery Sport I was also looking at, and the lease price was lower.
I took the stat from Auto Trader's latest research (here> https://www.autotraderroadto2030.co.uk/) but agree it seems very large. I think, as you suggest, there are a few luxury EVs that drag the gap upwards.
The Autotrader figures are junk. The figures come from the advertised price on Autotrader, which eliminates all dedicated BEVs and ignores differences in trim. Essentially you are only left with the Stellantis, Fiat and Mini EVs.
